'The Fire Within' Chris D'Lacey by Sean Pan 7MU

I would like to recommend a book call The Fire Within. The author is called Chris D'Lacey, and I'm recommending this to you because it is a very intriguing book to read. This book is dragons and the first book to the Dragon Chronicle Series. I couldn't stop reading and I have currently read up to the 5th sequel of this book, called Dark Fire.

It starts with the main characters David Rain, Elizabeth Pennykettle (Liz for short) and her daughter Lucy Penykettle. David is a college student who is looking for a house to rent. Liz is the owner of the house and she is a potter. Her daughter Lucy is 11 years old and she loves squirrels and can be mischievous. David is introduced to Liz and her house with her cat, Bonnington and Lucy, her daughter. But after a look around David discovers life-like dragons made from clay. These dragons hold something very special to them and whilst they look fake are very, very much alive.

David will unravel the secrets of the dragons in this story and touch the surface of a bigger mystery and even have his own trusty dragon companion called Gadzooks who will help him through his journey unravelling this mystery.  Read this book for yourself and the sequels to find out the mysteries of the dragons ...

Overall, I believe this book should be praised for its compelling plot. I would recommend this book and the sequels to children that are 12-16 or to fantasy or mystery lovers. Take an adventure through this amazing series and you won't regret it.

The B.F.G. by Alana Gillings Year 7

Every night, when the world is sleeping, big gruesome giants guzzle up whoppsy, whiffling human beings. Out of all these giants there is only one good one, the Big Friendly Giant (B.F.G). He’s the kindest giant there is and has a friend called Sophie who lives with him in his top pocket. He sets out to rid the world of the Bloodbottler, the Fleshlumpeater and all their rotsome friends forever…

I liked this book because I like all Roald Dahl books. I like his books as they are very interesting and different to a lot of other books because he makes up lots of peculiar words like phizz-whizzing, svollop, whoopsy-splunkers. However, my favourite is snozzcumber. The BFG is forced to eat this disgusting vegetable as it is the only thing that grows in the giant country. It’s knobbly, with black and white stripes and tastes horrible!
